Arrive Alive Scholarship ProgramCarter Mario Injury Lawyers is pleased to announce the 2012 Arrive Alive Scholarship Program. We are committed to supporting higher education opportunities as well as promoting programs that deal with the prevention of drunk driving and distracted driving. Our scholarship program is a combination effort to provide financial assistance for students to pursue their educational goals as well as stressing the dangers of drunk and distracted driving. We will award $1,000 apiece to 10 Connecticut high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college or university next fall. |

Carter Mario Sponsors East Coast Elite AAU Basketball TeamCarter Mario Injury Attorney, Carla Minniefield, made a donation to the East Coast Elite AAU basketball team for jersey expenses. Her godson and nephew each play on the team. East Coast Elite AAU basketball team is made up of twelve young men ranging in age from nine to thirteen years old, with average age of twelve. In 2010, five of the players placed first for the 5th grade division which ranked them number one in the entire state of Connecticut. This year, most of the players are in sixth grade and all are outstanding students academically. They participated in the state competition the weekend of May 14th and won, thus qualifying them for the nationals. They will travel to Hampton VA for an entire week in July to compete at the national level, representing the state of Connecticut in their age group. There are two dedicated coaches leading the team, Terry Rountree (Lieutenant, New Haven Fire Department) and Will Antrum ( Dean of Students-Hillhouse High School in New Haven). Coach Rountree played Division I Basketball at Boston College and Coach Antrum was All State during high school. Both coaches hail from New Haven. |

Carter Mario's Bridgeport Office Supports Local VeteransOur Bridgeport Office "adopted" Homes for the Brave, a 46 bed transitional housing facility which also offers intensive case management and vocational services for male Veterans. Our contribution of sweat suits, pajamas, thermals and socks made it possible for the veterans to have presents to open at the Christmas Party held at the facility. Carter Mario Injury Lawyer, Carla Minniefield, will also be helping this veterans group by giving pro bono legal advice throughout the year, starting in January. Our Bridgeport Office also plans to adopt a future Home for the Brave that will be added for female soldiers. We will help get the home ready for residence and donate our time helping the women with job searches, preparing resumes, grooming tips, cooking classes, etc. |

The walk was held at East Rock Park in New Haven and hosted by the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Southern, CT, Inc. Approximately 500 attendees participated. The event included a 5k walk as well as a 10k run up the mountain. The youngest to complete the 10k run was 11 years old. |

Carter Mario Keeps Community Warm this WinterCarter Mario teamed up with REACH-OUT Food, Furniture and Clothing Ministry, Inc., for its third annual coat collection, “1,000 Coats for 1,000 Folks.” The members of the firm collected 127 coats for individuals in need. Helmets for Kids ProgramAs an avid cyclist himself, Carter Mario understands the dangers of being involved in a bicycle accident. According to the CDC, "more than 500,000 children go to hospital emergency rooms or doctors' offices due to bicycle injuries" each year.
