An 89-year-old Connecticut woman died from fire and burn injuries Tuesday morning, according to the Connecticut Post. Relatives identified the woman who died while emergency responders tried to reach in the burning house.
Seven police officers made several unsuccessful attempts to get in the house but were pushed back at several doors by flames and smoke. Without the protective gear and covering of firefighters, the police officers would have suffered severe Connecticut fire and burn injuries had they entered the house any further.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, both floors of the house were engulfed in flames. The woman’s son believes the blaze may have been the result of a cooking accident, and that the fire and burn injury victim was home alone when it happened.
