Connecticut Motorcycle Crash Kills Two

A man and a boy are dead after a devastating motorcycle accident that occurred yesterday. Eyewitness News 3 reports that around 4 PM Sunday, the North Dakota man who was driving the motorcycle lost control on Route 184 in Stonington, Connecticut. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The under-aged passenger was transported to Westerly Hospital, where he too, was later pronounced dead.

The roadway was closed for about two hours while police gathered evidence and cleared the scene. Police said speed was a contributing factor in the accident; however, the incident is still under investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), states that motorcycle rider deaths are 30 times more likely than drivers of other vehicles. Also, motorcycle riders below the age of 40 are 36 times more likely to be killed than other vehicle operators of the same age.
