Carter Mario Law Firm Joins Campaign Against Distracted Driving

Connecticut has a growing problem on its highways-distracted driving. A press release from the Connecticut Department of Transportation says the activity caused at least 20 percent of all accidents that occurred in 2008 and claimed 6,000 lives that same year.

In an effort to combat the problem, the National Safety Council has declared April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The campaign is called Focus Driven and is aimed at educating motorists on the importance of putting down all electronic devices when behind the wheel of a car.

The Connecticut Auto Accident Lawyers with Carter Mario Law Firm also have partnered with the campaign to raise awareness of distracted driving, especially among teens and young adults, in Connecticut. They will be hosting speaking engagements with teens at local high schools on the dangers of distracted driving while also offering the “Arrive Alive Scholarships” to students with the best anti-distracted driving submissions.

The firm also recently introduced its “Get Carter” application for smartphones which allows users to access a database of companies offering free cab rides if they’ve had too much to drink.

“It is so important to me, not only as a lawyer but as a business here in Connecticut to be doing something to help raise awareness on the real dangers of distracted driving- beyond just the legal implications,” stated Carter Mario, founder of the firm, in a recent press release.
