A 72-year-old Durham, Connecticut, the man was recently killed in an accident at a recycling center in North Haven, Connecticut. An article published by The North Haven Citizen states the incident occurred on January 9 at around 12:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Sims Metal Management facility on Universal Drive.
Reports indicate the victim was unloading a car being sold for scrap metal from his own truck when he suffered a Slip and Fall Accident that resulted in the scrap vehicle landing on top of him. Workers from the facility found the man under the vehicle a short time later with his chest and abdomen crushed under the vehicle’s weight. They were able to call rescue crews to the scene, but the man was declared dead when they arrived.
Both the North Haven Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are currently investigating the accident to determine the cause and if it could have been prevented.
Connecticut premise liability law states that a property owner has a responsibility to warn anyone coming on their property of any inherent dangers, while also working to reduce the risk of accidents. Any failure to do so could be considered negligence. That is why Connecticut Personal Injury Lawyers with Carter Mario Law Firm suggests discussing your legal options with a qualified attorney if you have been hurt as the result of an accident that occurred at no fault of your own.
