Connecticut Truck Accident Leaves Woman Seriously Injured

A 21-year-old Hartford man has been charged for causing a Connecticut Truck Accident that left an elderly woman seriously injured. Records show the crash happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, at the C-Town Supermarket located at the corner of Newton and Park Streets in Hartford.

According to NBC-Connecticut, the man had just finished making a delivery to the store when he attempted to back his truck up. Unfortunately though, as the truck rolled back, it struck an 84-year-old woman, leaving her trapped beneath the vehicle.

Rescue crews were called to the scene and required a forklift to free the victim. She was then rushed to a local hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition. She has since recovered to a stable condition.

Following the accident, the driver of the truck fled the scene, but later returned and was placed under arrest. He is facing a number of charges related to the accident and his credentials allowing him to drive the truck.

Law states that truck drivers must meet certain licensing and operational requirements in order to be on the road. If these requirements are not met, a driver and their employer could face both criminal and civil liability claims; however, proving such negligence can be a complex process.
