During the month of December, our CarterCares team participated in a sock drive which we referred to as “Socks From Santa.”
Staff collected new socks to be donated to the homeless, after hearing that was the item most needed by homeless shelters in the area this winter.
After doing a little bit of research our team decided to give our donations to Columbus House in New Haven.
The mission of the shelter is “To serve the people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, by providing shelter and housing and by fostering their personal growth and independence.”
In addition to the socks, our team also donated dozens of blankets to the shelter.
After meeting with members of the Columbus House staff and getting a tour of the facility, our CarterCares team was so moved that they made a promise to return to serve dinners and to collect additional items needed by the organization. Is there an organization that you feel is making a positive impact on our communities? Tell us about it and our CarterCares team might just select that organization to partner with in the future!
