Community Counseling Center of Central Connecticut
Community Counseling Center of Central Connecticut (CCC) was established in 2005 as a 501c3 not for profit organization which provides mental health and other supportive services to the greater central Connecticut community, regardless of someone’s ability to pay. At our site at Pillwillop Therapeutic Farm in Wolcott, we nurture mental health on 50 acres of CT farm and woodlands and in a converted 3 story barn. In addition to providing traditional counseling services, we also offer workshops, classes and groups that support good mental health. Things such as yoga, meditation, recovery support and the like are offered on site, and always free or low cost. We are in the final phase of construction on a very large community space where we will be able to greatly expand what we can offer to the community. However, currently this space is only accessible via stairs and is not easily accessible to those with mobility concerns. Recently, a private donor with an interest in improving accessibility donated $1000 to us towards that end; we have been researching installation of a commercial lift chair or elevator system in order to increase access to this space, and while their donation was generous, we need additional funds in order to be able to install this system. We are applying to this contest in order to be considered for funds to complete this vital project. If we are selected, not only would these funds allow us to create access to this large new space, but also to the fully functioning art studio adjoining it. Included in our submission are photos in progress of the new community hall.
