Hartford’s Camp Courant
Hartford’s Camp Courant is a youth development organization and the oldest and largest FREE summer day camp in the nation.
Camp Courant’s mission is to provide Hartford children equal opportunity to participate in recreational and educational experiences that balance fun with enrichment while expanding horizons, instilling confidence, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and inspiring big dreams for the future.
For 125 summers, Camp Courant has opened camp, providing a free summer camp experience for nearly 1000 campers each summer. We offer transportation, two meals, a weekend backpack of food, and more than a dozen educational programs, all taught by certified teachers, with a goal of lessening summer learning loss for some of Hartford’s most at-risk children.
We service children ages 5-12 from the City of Hartford. There is no income criteria to attend Camp Courant, although we know that 93% of campers qualify for free/reduced lunch.
