Premises liability laws in Connecticut require property owners to ensure the safety of anyone who is allowed on their property. Yet, each year, thousands of people are hurt or killed as the result of owner negligence that causes an accident to occur.
Take, for instance, the case where five people were left seriously injured as the result of a Slip and Fall Accident that occurred at the Woodbury Ski Area on New Year's Day. According to NBC-Connecticut, witnesses stated the group of six individuals, ranging in ages from 19 to 35-years-old, was being towed up a ski slope in a large inner tube, when cable connecting the tube to a towline suddenly snapped. With no secondary safety device, the tube began sliding back down the hill out of control, where it then collided with the base of a ski lift.
Rescue crews were called to the scene, where they immediately transferred five of the tube's passengers to a local trauma center for treatment to serious injuries sustained in the accident.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, along with several other government agencies, are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
The Connecticut Personal Injury Lawyers with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers recognize the dangers activities at ski resorts can present and would like to wish all of those who were hurt in the recent accident a full and speedy recovery from their injuries.
