A 52-year-old man from East Haven was killed as a result of a Connecticut Train Accident that occurred earlier this week. Reports indicate the incident happened at around noon Tuesday along a stretch of tracks near Hood Terrace in the town of West Haven, Connecticut.
According to WTNH 8 News, the man had worked for the railroad for the past 27 years. On the day of the accident, he was performing duties along the middle track outside of the West Haven Train Station. A witness, who was landscaping outside of the station, reported hearing the train whistle blow moments before it passed. Minutes later, the victim was found lying next to a piece of equipment he had been using to perform job duties. He was declared dead at the scene after a coroner determined the passing train had struck him.
An investigation into the accident is continuing.
The incident comes just days after a train derailment in Connecticut left 70 people injured. Investigators believe a faulty piece of rail may be to blame for the crash.
