A young woman is facing serious charges stemming from a fatal Connecticut Motorcycle Accident that occurred last month. Reports indicate the crash happened on Tuesday, June 25, at an intersection along Meriden Road in the town of Wolcott, Connecticut.

According to a story from NBC-Connecticut, investigators say the victim was riding a motorcycle along the street when he came to a complete stop for a red light at an intersection. The accused was driving her vehicle behind the motorcycle while also texting and failed to recognize the bike stopped in traffic in front of her. The woman did not stop in time and slammed into the back of the motorcycle, pushing it into another vehicle and forcing its driver to be thrown from the machine.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, but died from his injuries three days later.

Investigators have now charged the woman allegedly responsible for the accident with second-degree manslaughter, operating a vehicle while using a handheld device, and operating an unregistered vehicle.

While Connecticut is working towards adopting stricter distracted driving laws, the number of these accidents continues to climb each year. Many attribute this to a lack of public awareness about the dangers this behavior can pose to all motorists on the road.

The Connecticut Personal Injury Attorneys with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers encourage motorists to combat distracted driving by putting their phones down while at the wheel and encouraging other to do the same.
