One person was killed and three others seriously injured as the result of a collision between a commuter train and a car in Redding Connecticut that occurred earlier this week. According to The Connecticut Post, the accident happened just after 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the railroad crossing located on Long Ridge Road in Redding, Connecticut.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Assistant Police Chief Steve Conner, stated a female driving a Subaru Outback carrying three passengers was heading southbound along the road when the train approached the intersection as she was crossing and hit the car. The impact of the Connecticut Auto Accident pushed the vehicle hundreds of yards down the track before coming to rest. Rescue crews then had to pull the passengers from the wreckage to safety.

One passenger in the Subaru died at the scene, while three others were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One remains in critical condition.

Police and MTA technicians are still working to determine if the signaling system for the ungated track intersection was working properly at the time of the accident.

The Connecticut Personal Injury Lawyers with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers acknowledge the dangers that intersections between train tracks and roads can present and would like to send their deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased victim while also wishing a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured in this tragedy.
