Two people were killed and four others seriously injured in a Connecticut house fire that erupted in Putnam, Connecticut this past week. The Meriden Record-Journal explained the incident occurred just before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday at a multi-family residence located on Prospect Street.
Police Chief Rick Hayes stated that by the time firefighters had arrived to the home after receiving calls about the fire from neighbors, the home’s roof was already engulfed in flames. This left firefighters unable to enter the upper levels of the home until the fire could be extinguished and the floors stabilized several hours later.
In the meantime, two children were unaccounted for and four adults living in the home were transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for the injuries they each sustained in the fire. The bodies of the children were found in the home later and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
