Law enforcement in Connecticut was busy over the long Labor Day weekend. According to the Associated Press, the Connecticut State Police stated that troopers had issued thousands of citations and reported hundreds of Connecticut auto accidents over the four-day span.

Data shows that troopers responded to the scenes of more than 175 accidents, with only one being fatal. A 52-year-old Ashford, Connecticut, woman was killed early Saturday morning when another driver going the wrong way along Interstate 84 struck her vehicle head-on. Investigators are still looking into whether or not the driver responsible was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, like 41 others who were arrested over the long weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Troopers were also responsible for issuing more than 2,100 motorists for moving violations over the holiday as well. Approximately 1,000 of those citations were issued to drivers found to be exceeding posted speed limits, while around 190 tickets were issued because drivers or passengers in vehicles were not properly restrained by seat belts.
