A 48-year-old driver of a commercial tractor-trailer is facing charges in connection to a Connecticut Truck Accident she caused that claimed the life of a highway worker. According to NBC-Connecticut, the collision occurred in March along Route 8 outside the town of Waterbury, Connecticut.

Police reports indicate that the 41-year-old victim was part of a department of transportation crew cleaning debris from the side of the highway. The victim had parked his truck along the side of the highway with its emergency lights activated and got out of the vehicle to continue with his duties when he was struck by a passing tractor-trailer combination.

Investigators examined the details of the case and determined the semi-truck’s driver was responsible for the accident after failing to obey regulations regarding the operation of her vehicle. She was charged this past Wednesday morning with violating the maximum number of hours she was allowed to drive, issuing false statements regarding her vehicle’s documentation, failure to maintain lane position, interference of an officer’s duties, and misconduct with a motor vehicle.

The Connecticut Personal Injury Lawyers with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers explain truck drivers must follow a different set of standards and laws than operators of private vehicles and failure to obey these rules can result in a trucker being found negligent in the event of an accident. That is why the firm suggests discussing your rights with an attorney if you have been injured in an accident involving a tractor-trailer.
