Stopping on the shoulder of the interstate can be dangerous, but many long-haul truck drivers are forced to do it when their trucks breakdown. However, the stopped trucks can present dangers all their own to other motorists on the highway.

Take, for instance, the case of a 40-year-old Connecticut man who died after his vehicle struck a big rig parked along the shoulder of a rest area, just feet from a “No Parking” sign.

The Connecticut Post reports the crash occurred Thursday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, outside of Fairfield. The victim was driving a Nissan Sentra into the rest area when he hit an SUV, then plowed into the side of the big rig’s trailer. The vehicle became entangled underneath the trailer and rescue crews worked for roughly half an hour to extricate the man from the wreckage. By the time they were able to free the man, he had died.

A similar Connecticut Truck Accident happened just two weeks prior at the rest area across the highway in the northbound lanes after a driver struck a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder of the ramp in front of ‘No Parking” signs.

The Connecticut Personal Injury Lawyers with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers say that a truck driver’s failure to obey posted signage could result in a serious accident.
