There is an important community health announcement that all Connecticut residents need to know about. Griffin Hospital announced that for its patients hospitalized from September 1, 2008 to May 7, 2014, and for whom insulin was ordered, there is a risk of infection for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. The risk of infection comes from the use of insulin pens designed for a single patient that were re-used on different patients.

If you, someone you love, a neighbor, or a friend was hospitalized during that time at Griffin Hospital and received insulin, it is important to undergo precautionary testing.
Griffin Hospital has arranged a hot line number to setup free testing: 203-732-1411 and 203-732-1340.

It is important to complete testing to make sure you are healthy and you have not been infected by the misuse of these insulin pens by Griffin Hospital. Getting the word out to your friends, family, and neighbors will help keep our community healthy and safe.
