Carter Mario Injury Lawyers held our Annual Scholarship Banquet 2015, at which time we awarded 10 standout high school seniors each with a $2,000 scholarship to college.
Winners were chosen based on a number of factors including their academic achievement, community involvement, and projects based on the topic of Distracted Driving.
Students were asked to create their projects based on the following prompt:
UConn Medical School Professor David Greenfield says, “The lure of text messages is a lot like the appeal of slot machines-both can be difficult to overcome.” Educational & public service programs directed at encouraging drivers to put down their phones while driving have not caught on as hoped & accidents & fatalities caused by distracted driving continue to climb. Something drastic must happen to STOP distracted driving…What do you suggest?
All of this year’s submissions were very creative and well-thought out. These included essays, videos, artwork for billboards, a t-shirt design, song lyrics and more.
We consider ourselves so lucky to be able to give back to the youth in our community through our
CarterCares Scholarship program.
