A single-car crash along I-84 early this morning has claimed the life of one person and left three others injured. According to an article released by NBC-Connecticut, four passengers were in the car at the time of the crash.
The incident occurred around 2:30 AM in the eastbound lanes of traffic, when the driver of a silver sedan the Connecticut men were in lost control of the vehicle. The car spun several times onto the shoulder of the road, striking a light pole and then rolling over. The 29-year-old man believed by Connecticut State Police to be behind the wheel at the time of the accident was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two passengers who were in the backseat were taken to Hartford Hospital to be treated for injuries. Their condition is unknown at this time. The man who was in the front passenger seat was later checked and treated for non-life threatening injuries at St. Francis Hospital.
Traffic was slowed along the interstate Monday morning as investigators tried to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities said they are trying to determine whether speed, alcohol or drugs, or distraction played a part in the crash.
