Earlier this month, our
CarterCares team participated in the 3rd Annual Vicki Soto 5K to honor and celebrate the life of the Sandy Hook Elementary School teacher on what would've been her 30th birthday.
Staff were accompanied by family and friends as they made the journey around the town of Stratford: Vicki Soto's hometown. Thousands were present for the event; including local residents, first responders, a local band, and cheerleaders to give participants a little extra encouragement along the way.
CarterCares team was honored to be a part of such a wonderful event that honored an amazing, brave young teacher; and helped raise money for the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, which provides annual scholarships to aspiring teachers, donates childrens' books to local libraries and schools, and partners with various non-profits to build playgrounds.
"I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Vicki Soto, but I am honored to have had the opportunity to celebrate her life," said Attorney Luretha Tolson.
"I got tears in my eyes and goosebumps as I reached mile 2 just thinking about how this young woman dedicated her life to her students and made the ultimate sacrifice for them."
Our CarterCares team was proud to participate in the Vicki Soto 5K and show our support for an amazing young woman and educator on what would’ve been her 30th birthday! #VickiSoto5k
