One of the most common causes for Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Claims is contact with equipment or an object at a work site. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates this type of accident accounts for roughly 15 percent of all workplace fatalities.

Such an incident was responsible for claiming the life of a Hamden, Connecticut, employee over the weekend. According to NBC-Connecticut, on Friday evening, the 50-year-old victim was handling heavy sheets of glass at the Orchard Glass Distributors facility on Edmund Street. As he began to move a stack of glass from a storage area though, it fell back on top of him.

The man was rushed to a local hospital, but died a short time after arrival as a result of the roughly 3,000-pounds that had fallen on top of him. Now, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called to the scene to determine the cause of the accident and if it could have been prevented.

Such an accident often leaves many wondering what benefits may be available in the event of being injured in a workplace accident. The Connecticut Personal Injury Attorneys with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers explain an injured worker may be entitled to a number of different types of benefits. The laws surrounding these benefits can often be complex though, and the firm is here to help any questions you may have.
