A Connecticut Wrongful Death Lawsuit has been filed in the matter of the death of an 8-year-old boy who was killed as the result of a fall from an open window at a housing complex. A story from News 8 stated the incident occurred in June of last year at Rippowam Manor in Stamford, Connecticut.
Reports indicate the child and his sister were playing in a hallway outside of their grandmother’s apartment. At some point though, the boy pushed through a screen in an open window and plummeted roughly six stories to his death.
This past February, the victim’s family filed suit alleging that the traumatic head injury the boy died form was a result of negligence of the apartment complex and the city’s housing authority. The suit went on to claim that the entities should have done more to ensure a safe environment at the complex.
The suit is seeking a total of $15,000 in damages and if a settlement is not reached, a trial is expected to begin sometime in the summer of 2014.
