Tree Cutter Killed in Connecticut Work-Related Accident

A 26-year-old man was killed in a work-related accident in Greenwich, Connecticut, earlier this week. According to The Hartford Courant, the incident occurred Monday afternoon at a residence located on Bush Avenue.

The man was part of a crew hired to remove a large tree from the property and had climbed the trunk so that he could begin trimming away branches. As the man began to cut into a large piece of the tree though, a section of the trunk snapped and came crashing down on top of him.

First responders immediately attempted to transport him to a local trauma center for treatment; however, the worker was pronounced dead when they arrived.

Studies show accidents like these may be more common than once suspected, considering the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that 557 employees in the agriculture industry died in 2011 as the result of a workplace accident.

While most employees know there is help available through Connecticut Workers’ Compensation benefits if they are injured, many do not realize the same help may be available if their loved one was killed as a result of a work-related accident.

The Connecticut Personal Injury Lawyers with Carter Mario Law Firm recognize how confusing and complex filing a claim for these benefits can be and may be able to help if you are preparing to file a workers’ compensation claim or have a claim that was denied in the past.
